Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System on a 2023 Ford Bronco. There's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required for a flat tow up vehicle and there may be a few extra things that you'll have to add, but the basics that you'll have to have legally are going to start with our base plate, and that's going to become the mounting point for all your components and it attaches attaches to the frame of the vehicle. So it's a structural mounting point that has arms here that allows you to get your tow bar connected to it. Your tow bar is a connecting point between the base plate on your towed vehicle and the hitch on the RV. Now, along with that where our arms attach, we also have these safety chain loops. So just like a trailer, you have your safety cables, making sure that in case of a disconnect, it's gonna keep everything attached. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Braking System on a 2018 Ford Explorer. There's five main components when flat towing your Explorer that are gonna be required. Now the first one is gonna be the base plate which is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle creating a nice structural support for your tow bar to be able to connect from your base plate to the hitch on the RV. Now going along with that, we have our safety chains and that's just in case of an accidental disconnect. It's still gonna keep everything attached and the mounting points are already on the base plate for you. You also have your diode wiring, which is gonna transmit light signals from the RV to the taillights on the towed vehicle. more

So, more or less, just to kind of give you an example, let's say if you we're making a left turn at a stoplight, right So you're on the brakes, and you got your left turn signal going. more

Now what this does is allow you to slow and stop in your RV and the brakes will be applied on your towed vehicle. So that way it's not pushing the vehicle around, it's just gonna make for a much better towing experience. It's like having trailer brakes when pulling a trailer. So there's two main types of braking systems on the market. Portable system, which is what the Blue Ox Patriot is and we have permanent systems. Now, permanent systems are great, however they require a very lengthy installation and they also require some significant modifications to your vehicle. With a portable system, you're not gonna have that initial lengthy installation and most of the time, there's gonna be no modifications to the vehicle required whatsoever. First, you'll have the Wireless Coachlink which we will send the signal to the driver's seat of the RV to let you know when the brakes are being applied. The other option is going to be a wired LED light that will be mounted up by your rear view mirror, and that way you can see when it's illuminated also letting you know when the brakes are being applied. So what does a braking system do Well, if you we're already aware, it's gonna be required in pretty much every state. And what it does is, it essentially takes the brakes on the motorhome and applies those to that on your towed vehicle. So why might you want this Well, for starters, again, it's requirement in most states and number two, it's gonna greatly reduce the strain here on your motorhome. Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2021 Ford Escape- Video
Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the road master brake light relay kit here on a 2021 Ford Escape. So a brake light relay kit is gonna be required in order to successfully flat tow this vehicle if you have a supplemental braking system. Now essentially what this is gonna do is, so when the brake lights are being applied on a towed vehicle here while we have the turn signals on on the motor home, they're gonna override those signals which is not something we want. By installing the relay here which is powered by the running light circle on the motor home. We're gonna prevent the brake lights on the towed vehicle from overriding the turn signals sent from the motor home. So there's really not much else to say about the relay, it's gonna do its job. more

A supplemental braking system in its most basic form, it's gonna be applying the brakes on our towed vehicle here, in an amount proportional to that of our motor home. So why this is important is, when we have larger towed vehicles here, like this truck, it's going to place additional force and strain on the motor home's brake. So we're not going to be able to come to a stop as fast. And it's also going to put additional wear and tear on the motor home's brake. So adding a supplemental braking system like the air force one, it's going to be an excellent option for both safety and longevity. more
